BRAVE CF’s Mohammed Shahid is one of the executors of Shaikh Khalid’s MMA vision
BRAVE Combat Federation president Mohammed Shahid has been one of the driving forces behind the development of mixed martial arts in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the growth of BRAVE CF as the fastest-growing MMA professional promotion in the world. Under the guidance and leadership of His Highness Shaikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Shahid, who turns 30 today, has assisted in historical milestones for the sport and for Bahrain.
“The Hawk” was a martial arts enthusiast from an early age and became the first athlete competing out of Bahrain in professional mixed martial arts. In order to achieve that, he taught martial arts and funded himself in travels to Thailand, to fight in muay thai, and India, to compete in MMA.
Mohammed was always self-taught and made it his mission to learn more about these disciplines in their countries of origin, going on a true odyssey to find the best spots for martial arts training, proving his love for the sport was never-ending, even in the worst conditions.
His knowledge of the sport and his experience traveling and fighting around the world has been instrumental in BRAVE’s rise to the top of the MMA world.
When he came back to the Kingdom, Shahid started Bahrain MMA gym and was the first coach of future Bahrain superstar Hamza Kooheji. While Kooheji made waves around the Middle East with dominant performances, the work done by “The Hawk” in his gym started to draw attention as his prized pupil rose through the ranks locally and internationally.
Together, they drove the flag of Bahrain to the highest places in the Middle East MMA scene, as Kooheji achieved several big wins along the way. His work as a coach has been recognized as second to none by all those who have been in contact with the gym.
Also a lover of mixed martial arts, His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa became interested in the achievements of Bahraini MMA and the man that drove it to another level, and the two met after one of Hamza’s biggest wins in the Middle East circuit.
Shaikh Khaled had significant plans and an ambitious drive to make MMA known and appreciated worldwide, as well as recognizing the importance of the sport to the development of citizens and society as a whole.
Since sharing the same drive and passion for the sport, Shahid has worked hard to implement the vision that His Highness has MMA first with the Bahrain MMA National team, then with KHK MMA, and finally with BRAVE Combat Federation, the fastest-growing mixed martial arts promotion in the world, and Bahrain’s biggest sports property. Shaikh Khaled has found a loyal and unwavering soldier on his quest to take MMA to the next level, a vision that is each day closer to reality.
