Brave signs two-division African champion JP Buys

Brave Combat Federation continues to expand its roster with the addition of Bantamweight standout JP Buys. The prospect from South Africa, who’s only 22 years old, has signed a long-term contract with the biggest promotion in the Middle East, officials announced today.
JP last fought in his native South Africa after losing his fight at Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series and got back to the winning column with a win over Philippe Rouch from France.
Buys joins an already stacked Bantamweight division for Brave, headed by divisional champion Stephen Loman, who recently defended his title for the first time against rival Frans Mlambo at the historical Brave 13 event. JP has a professional MMA record of five wins and two losses, after going 6-0 as an amateur.
He’s recognized for his strong wrestling and submission game. An African champion in amateur wrestling, Buys started with the sport at age 15 before transitioning to MMA full-time. JP has four of his five professional wins coming by way of submission – his other victory came by technical knockout. As an amateur, he also earned three of his six wins by submitting his opponents.
