ERICK DA SILVA REPLACES AL-SELWADY, TAKES ON CARLSSON AT BRAVE 13
June 3, 2018
After Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady announced a hand injury would prevent him from facing Erik Carlsson next week, Brave Combat Federation has moved swiftly in finding a replacement for the “Pride of Palestine”. Officials announced today that Brazilian Erick “Índio Brabo” da Silva will now take on Carlsson, from Sweden, in what is now a Catchweight bout of 72 kg at Brave 13: Europe Evolution, set for June 9th, in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Fighting out of Astra Fight Team in Southern Brazil, “Índio Brabo” has previously fought twice for Brave. The Lightweight beat Brian Hooi, from Holland, in a hard-fought decision at Brave 5: Go For Glory, and then lost, curiously, to the man he’ll replace at Brave 13. Last year, Erick lost by TKO to Al-Selwady in the historical Brave 9: The Kingdom of Champions.
Carlsson, meanwhile, will look to win his first fight after dropping down from Welterweight. He made his official Lightweight debut against Ahmed “The Butcher” Amir, but was overwhelmed and ended up losing a decision. “The Viking” is 1-2 with Brave Combat Federation, having also lost to Jarrah Al-Selawe – his lone promotional win came against Gadzhimusa Gaziev with a brutal KO by a knee to the body.
Brave 13 will be headlined by a Bantamweight title fight between champion Stephen Loman and Frans Mlambo. Also set for Brave’s first trip to Europe are the debuts of Norman Parke, Karl Amoussou and local stars Andy Young, Declan Dalton and Cian Cowley.
