Townsend expects a finish in South Africa, eyes Brave title

Starting a new run, in a whole new promotion, might seem demanding for many. But that’s not the case for Adam Townsend. Going into his 25th professional fight, with 19 wins and only 5 losses, the veteran from Tennessee feels no pressure in headlining the upcoming Brave 19 card in South Africa and expects nothing but a finish against local hero Mark Hulme.

“It doesn’t really bother me anymore at this point”, Townsend said. “That stuff bothered me early on in my career as far as fighting out-of-state here in my own country but now I just feel like I’ve had so much experience doing it that it means nothing to me. Of course, fans and judges will most likely be on his side so that gives me more of a reason to go and finish the fight”.

The ease with which handles the situation, however, does not mean that Adam is not happy about the opportunity of being involved in a main event showdown for his debut in his new home.

“Oh, I’m very excited to be headlining another event in a different country and a different continent. I would say 90% of my professional fights I’ve either been the main event or co-main event. I didn’t know I was going to be the main fight but it was a nice surprise”, he assured.

Townsend’s plans for his Brave debut are just the first step for his long-term plans with the Bahrain-based promotion.

“I really have enjoyed being part of Brave up until this point and I’m not even got to go and see what they have to offer as far as fight week goes. I plan on going for the title here, for sure”, Adam guarantees.

The clash of America’s Adam “Primetime” Townsend and hometown hero Matt Hulme in the Welterweight division will be the main event of Brave 19, the main attraction of the 2018 Brave Africa Combat Week. The group of combat sports events takes place between December 6 and 8 at Sun City Resort, in the Northwest Province, in South Africa and will be the first ever Brave Combat Week to be held outside of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
