Lucas “Mineiro” opens up before BRAVE 24; predicts ‘amazing show’ for VIP crowd
Featherweight title contender Lucas “Mineiro” Martins is known to be shy in front of the cameras, preferring to do his talking with his fists, legs, knees, and elbows. But the muay thai specialist has opened up and made a frank analysis of his achievements in the sport before challenging for Bubba Jenkins’ belt in the main event of BRAVE 24: London, which takes place at the Copper Box Arena, on July 25th.
The event is set to connect the highest level of personalities to world-class level mixed martial arts, in order to empower the sport. Lucas feels deserving of the opportunity of headlining such a prestigious card for all he has done in MMA.
“I don’t want to say I’m the best, but I know I’m BRAVE’s big star in and outside of Brazil, so I deserve to be in this spot, that’s why I’m here. I’m here to be the champion and show everyone again who is Lucas “Mineiro”. MMA has grown up a lot in the last few years, and so did I. Thank God, I’m a reference in the sport. I’ve done everything I wanted to do in MMA. Today, I fight for the love of the sport”, said “Mineiro”.
After starting off as mainly a stand-up fighter, Lucas has developed into a well-rounded fighter, capable of submitting his opponents and defending their takedowns. He says this will be one of the keys for him to make history and become the first-ever fighter to win BRAVE CF world titles in two different weight classes. Nevertheless, “Mineiro” predicts an “amazing” fight against current champion Jenkins.
“I’m a complete fighter. I’m capable of doing well wherever the fight goes. Jiu-jitsu, muay thai, boxing, wrestling… Bubba is a great athlete too, and it is going to be a great fight, wherever it goes. I’m here to put on a show to the VIP crowd and that’s what’s going to happen”.
